Lettuce Varieties

Iceberg Lettuce

Deliciously refreshing, Iceberg lettuce is the ideal variety for making a light and flavourful salad. It can be combined with a wide range of fresh vegetables, cheeses and cold meats and works well with all sorts of dressings. For its adaptability to all sorts of flavour combinations, Iceberg lettuce is a must in low calorie diets.

  • Iceberg 18: 38 boxes per skid (Québec);
  • iceberg 24: 32 boxes per skid (Québec);
  • Iceberg 24: 35 boxes per skid (Mexico);
  • Iceberg Cello 24: 35 boxes per skid (Québec);

Storage & Handling:

Store Iceberg lettuce upon delivery at 34 to 36 oF (between 1.1 and 2.2oC). Avoid storing near fruit that releases ethylene, as it will spoil more rapidly.

Romaine Lettuce

As the main ingredient in the famous Caesar Salad, romaine lettuce leaves are delicious coated with a creamy cheese or mustard dressing or drizzled with a blend based on oil and vinegar. Refreshing, tasty and nutritious, romaine can also be served braised or sautéed.

Quantities per skid:

  • Romaine 24: 30 boxes per skid (Québec and Mexico).

Storage & Handling:

Store romaine upon delivery at temperatures between 34 and 36 oF (between 1.1 and 2.2oC).

Green & Red Leaf Lettuce

With their light and appealing hazelnut flavour, baby green and red lettuce leaves may be served drizzled with creamy, oily, tangy or sweet dressings. Leaf lettuces, both red and green, are not only nutritious but also a source of antioxidants. Enjoy this variety in a salad or braised as a side dish vegetable.

Quantities per skid:

  • Leaf green 24 (carton): 38 boxes per skid;
  • Leaf red 24 (carton): 38 boxes per skid;
  • Leaf green, plastic: 30 boxes per skid.

With a slightly bitter taste, escarole can not only be made into a salad but also braised, grilled or sautéed. Suited to many flavour combinations, it is just as tasty drizzled with any tangy, sweet or mild dressing.

Escarole is highly sensitive to both hot and cold. Store it upon delivery at 34 to 36 oF (between 1.1 and 2.2oC).

Curly Endive

With a rather surprisingly bitter taste, curly endive livens up blends of baby greens and lettuce salads. Slightly milder once cooked, it is an original and delicious vegetable served as a side dish.

Boston Lettuce

Ever so delicate, Boston lettuce leaves are at their best combined with fruity or mild flavours. Their refined flavour is particularly delightful in salad, but they also can be prepared as a side dish vegetable.

  • Boston 24: 40 boxes per skid.

Storage & Handling:
