The original Mesclun…

Originally from Nice, mesclun is a blend of baby lettuces and crucifers of all kinds. With its various shades of greens and reds, mesclun is appealing to the eye and provides a beautiful presentation for all kinds of appetizers. This original and flavourful mix of different greens can be enjoyed drizzled with a simple stream of olive oil or tossed in a vinaigrette dressing. Since 2001, Veg Pro International, Quebec’s leading producer of mesclun, has developed many combinations of baby lettuces, all sold pre-washed under the “Fresh Attitude” label. Their various and delightful flavours will not fail to please even the most sophisticated palate.

“Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix consists of many greens and crucifers providing a variety of different flavours. Simply delicious drizzled with a stream of olive oil and balsamic vinegar or flavoured with cheese, our Spring Mix can also be tossed with a variety of dressings and can be garnished with a number of other vegetables and even fruits. A pleasure for the eyes as well as the taste buds, Veg Pro International assures you that the varieties of greens we used are unquestionably fresh and delicious.

Good for you… Since it is a blend of many varieties of lettuces and crucifers, Spring Mix provides outstanding antioxidant qualities (it contains isothiocyanates, carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthine, beta-carotene), ferulic acid, flavonoids…) and is extremely high in vitamins (A, B2, B9, C, K…) and in minerals (manganese, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium…).

How to Select Your Spring Mix:
Choose a mix with fresh, firm and spotless leaves.

How to Store Your Spring Mix:
Store Spring Mix refrigerated in its clamshell and check the Best Before date printed on it. Prepare and rinse your greens (if you wish to wash them again) just before serving. Since they are quite delicate, they will spoil more quickly if you handle them too much.

Savour it… year-round (production of Quebec (Canada) and Florida).

Satisfy… 2 to 4 people as a side dish, with a 5-ounce clamshell and 8 to 10 people with a 1 lb. clamshell.

Spring Mix Greens

Spinach:
The sweetish taste of baby spinach, its oval and graceful shape, delicate green colour and exceptionally nutritious qualities pleasantly balance “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix, San Marino Mix and Oriental Mix.

Green and Red Romaine:
Crisp and refreshing, baby romaine enhances both the colour and the flavour of “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix and San Marino Mix.

Green and Red Oak:
Delicate green or striking red, oak leaves provide subtle flavour and go beautifully with many types of dressing, but particularly well drizzled with walnut oil. Its notched leaves add style to “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix and San Marino Mix.

Lollo Rossa:
With its intense burgundy colour and green center, lollo rossa lettuce has a sweetish flavour that adds elegance to “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix and San Marino Mix.

Mizuna:
Saw-toothed, elegant mizuna leaves are a delicate green and provide a mustard-like tang to offset the other greens of “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix, San Marino Mix and Oriental Mix.

Green and Red Leaf Lettuce:
Green, red or two-tone, the different varieties of baby leaf lettuces have a light hazelnut taste that subtly enhance “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix, San Marino Mix and Oriental Mix.

Arugula:
The peppery flavour of baby arugula and its serrated border bring flair to “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix and especially to San Marino Mix.

Frisee:
Baby frisee has tapered leaves of green hues that look more like an herb than a lettuce. With a hint of bitterness, they provide contrast to “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix.

Radicchio:
With its distinctly red colour and contrasting ivory white veins, raddichio leaves have a strong taste that add colour and crunch to “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix.

Tatsoi:
Of a dark green colour, spoon-shaped and tender, baby tatsoi leaves have a unique and sharp flavour reminiscent of cabbage. Tatsoi is a must in Oriental Mix and is also added to “Fresh Attitude” Spring Mix and San Marino Mix.
