Shallot
Also called… dry shallot, eschallot.

Because you know what tastes good… A must in gastronomy, “Au Gré des Vents” shallots have a refined flavour that enhances dishes without masking the taste of other ingredients. Even though they look like small onions, shallots are mild and slightly sweet when cooked, but taste stronger than onions when raw.

A natural elegance… Looking like small onions, shallots have a somewhat asymmetrical shape and the bulb divides into cloves. Their pinkish colour and unique flavour will add zest to your salads.

Good for you… 100 grams of shallots contain 10% of the daily required amount of vitamin B6. It also represents 7% of the daily required amount of vitamin B9, that, once combined with B6, helps to prevent cardiovascular diseases. The same amount of shallots will provide you with 250 mg of potassium, a mineral, among other things, essential to good heart and kidney function. As shallots are low in sugar and fats, they are considered a good vegetable for diets.

Shallot Worlwide: Shallots are essential ingredients in French and Asian cuisines, mostly in the Near East and in South East Asia.

Could replace… garlic and onions in certain recipes and leek when used in soups.
