Food Safety
At Veg Pro International we are particularly proud of all the effort we put into our food safety programs. As a major retail and processor supplier we have over the years developed an extensive field and facility food safety program to ensure the quality of the product from the field to your plate.
It starts in the field with an extensive certification program for all the supplying ranches, followed by our custom pre-harvest and harvest verifications including microbiological testing for any possible pathogens.
The testing programs are then applied to the receiving facility where visual and microbiological testing is done at raw product reception. All raw products are then vacuum cooled and stored in the perfect holding temperatures.
In the facility we have been operating state of the art washing and drying equipment as well as artificial vision to assist in the removal of any foreign objects, and have again developed an extensive product testing program and protocols to insure that the product is of the highest quality for our customers. We have a HACCP based program and are now undergoing full certification, our in-house laboratory is also QMI-SAI Global certified. Our employees are also continually trained and updated in the changes and modifications to all of the food safety techniques and methods.
All of our facilities, ranches and harvest crews are also thoroughly audited by third party auditing firms as well as by our customer’s food safety specialists.
All of these efforts are conducted daily by a dedicated group of people who are proud of the products that we deliver each and every day to all of our customers and clients in Canada and in the United States.
